when starting this project, i wanted to make the monkey samurai as legit as possible, going to google i looked up old world monkeys and found the Francois's Langur, i favored this monkey because it comes from southern/islandic asia and had a built-in facial hair combo, something all samurai's need.
looking into monkey characteristics, i noticed the monkey sign has a lot of features that make him/her "the people person," but with that favorable trait comes the negative connontations of being vain, jealous, and manipulative. looking into samurais, i realised much of their life is built around strict disciplines. i always associated vain and jealous people as being people with lacks of self control, which led me to think that maybe this monkey could be a ronin? an outcast samurai for hire without a master.
ill keep playing with it and planning it, but i think that is going to be the general direction of the character.
